The July 2026 First Friday ArtWalk lands on July 3 — theme: Art & the West — and runs the usual 5:00–9:00 PM across downtown Flagstaff and the Southside. It's free, self-guided, and this month's official map (per event producer Creative Flagstaff) counts 29 participating venues, including three that are new to the list. Here's what's actually happening, with times.
The one-night-only stuff
- Strings at the Community Labyrinth. The Skylight City String Quartet plays live while you walk the lichen-covered boulder labyrinth, from 5:30 PM until dark. It's a short detour from downtown: access is off Lone Tree Rd at Brannen Circle — follow the FUTS trail signs.
- The Orpheum Summer Bazaar. More than 35 local artists and makers set up inside the historic Orpheum Theater with handmade art, jewelry, and crafts. One roof, a big chunk of your shopping done.
- Sea & Rain at Dark Sky. Live music in the Dark Sky Brewing beer garden from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
Getting there without a car
July is a Car-Free First Friday: the Aspen Street block by Heritage Square closes to cars for the night. If you're up for pedaling, the Center 2 Center community bike ride gathers at Coconino Center for the Arts at 4:00 PM — with complimentary Timberline Ice Cream this month — and rolls into Heritage Square right at the 5:00 PM start. Family-friendly, ride-your-own-pace.
New on the official venue list
Three venues join the official map this month:
- Sosta — 413 N San Francisco St, at the quieter north end of downtown.
- Gwendolyn Waring Arts — the painter's studio and native garden at 412 W Juniper Ave, near the hospital. Waring paints Colorado Plateau landscapes in oils, and this is the month to see the studio itself.
- Mountain Top Tap Room — 10 E Route 66, right on the Route 66 block.
Also worth noting for the after-dark crowd: The Wild Below — the candlelit rooms under the 1917 Masonic Temple — and Freaky Foot Tours are both on the official list this season, so the night doesn't have to end when the galleries close.
Where to start
Same advice as every month: start at Heritage Square, grab a paper map, then follow Gallery Row down N San Francisco Street and cross the tracks to the Southside when the crowds build. Or skip the paper and use the live map — every stop above is pinned.
