What time does Flagstaff's First Friday ArtWalk start?

5 to 9 PM, as of June 2026. Some older websites still say 6–9 PM — that was the earlier schedule. Many venues stay open past 9, and winter editions have sometimes run shorter hours.

Is the ArtWalk free?

Yes — completely free and self-guided. You can walk into every participating gallery, studio, brewery, and shop without a ticket.

When is the next First Friday ArtWalk?

The first Friday of every month. The confirmed 2026 season runs May through October with monthly themes; First Fridays have historically continued through winter in some form, so confirm dates closer to the day for November through April.

Where should I start the walk?

Heritage Square, on Aspen Avenue between Leroux and San Francisco. It's the event hub — paper maps, performances, and easy access to Gallery Row one block away. During the 2026 season, Aspen Avenue goes car-free there on walk nights.

Is the ArtWalk car-free?

Yes — for the 2026 season, the Aspen Street block by Heritage Square goes car-free on every First Friday, May through October, championed and underwritten by local advocate Dapper Dre. That block fills with performers, pop-up art, and room to gather. What's the Center 2 Center bike ride?

A free, family-friendly community bike ride new for 2026. Riders gather at 4 PM at the Coconino Center for the Arts (free Timberline ice cream), then roll downtown together to reach Heritage Square for the 5 PM ArtWalk start. It's party-pace and ride-at-your-own-risk — bring a helmet and lights, and confirm the current month before you go.

Can I take the bus?

Yes. Mountain Line's Downtown Connection Center is a couple of blocks from Heritage Square and every fixed route serves it. Standard fare is $1.25 (it's not free on regular days), and most weekday-evening routes run past the 9 PM end — check your route's last trip to be sure.

Where do I park?

The easiest free option is the City Hall lot at 211 W Aspen Ave — free after 5 PM and about two blocks west of Heritage Square. City and County government lots are also free after 5 PM on weekdays. On-street meters in the downtown core run until 8 PM on Fridays ($1/hour as of June 2026), then they're free — so a street spot is free for the back half of the walk. Is it kid-friendly?

Yes. It's an early-evening, all-ages street event — galleries, ice cream weather in summer, and street performances at Heritage Square. The earlier hours (5–7 PM) are the calmest with kids.

Does it happen in winter?

Historically yes, in some form — a December 2025 walk is documented — but winter scheduling and hours have varied year to year. We post each winter date here as soon as it's confirmed rather than guessing.

What if the weather turns?

Flagstaff sits at 7,000 feet, so evenings cool off fast in any season — bring a layer. Nearly all venues are indoors, so the walk goes on; only the outdoor Heritage Square programming is weather-dependent.
